Despite the fact that Super Bowl LIX will be held in his hometown of New Orleans, Lil Wayne will not be there.

In a video message posted to his Instagram Stories, the rapper announced that he will not be attending Sunday’s major game. He called out The Big Easy and stated that a seat would have to be filled in his place.

Although fans have long conjectured that the “Lollipop” rapper would be a surprise guest during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show, Wayne reassured them that he has “something very special” in the works and urged them to keep an eye out on Thursday, February 6.

“I have something exciting in store for you,” he continued. I’m simply chilling until then.”

As you are aware, there was a mixed reaction when Kendrick was chosen to be the official halftime performer for the 2025 Super Bowl. Some members of the hip-hop community believed that Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, the show’s producer, had openly ignored Lil Wayne, a resident of New Orleans.

Roc Nation doubled back on their choice in spite of the complaints, later stating that Kendrick’s Grammy sweep only served to confirm that he was the ideal performer for the role.

Nevertheless, given that they already have the song “Mona Lisa” together, fans continued to hold out hope that a duet between Kendrick and Little Wayne would be planned for Sunday’s performance.

The setlist is being kept under wraps, and the only confirmed guest to join KL onstage thus far is SZA, Kendrick’s soon-to-be tourmate.
