CNN apparently destroyed the only copy of the 2016 footage showing the mogul assaulting Cassie in a Los Angeles hotel hallway, which is an intriguing development ahead of Diddy’s impending trial.
The video that went viral on the internet in 2024 was created from the recording. Although the assault happened in March 2016, the recording has been erased, according to court filings. The video of the event at the Intercontinental Hotel was acquired by CNN.
According to the documents, “despite knowing about and frequently reporting about the federal investigation, CNN bought the only known copy of the Hotel’s surveillance footage, uploaded it into a free editing program, changed the video, and then destroyed the original footage.”

CNN changed and modified the video by “covering the time stamp and then changing the video sequence,” according to Diddy’s defense team, according to TMZ. In order to provide the impression that the events in the film are happening more quickly than they actually are, it also involves speeding up the footage. Consequently, the events in question are not fully and accurately portrayed in the CNN videos.
The video will be excluded from Diddy’s trial by the defense.
