Young Money, on which Lil Wayne guided Drake and Nicki Minaj to enormous success, was part of Birdman’s broader Cash Money label.

As far as Cash Money reunions go, Birdman has been enjoying a rather nostalgic year thus far, returning to the stage with the Hot Boys. Nick Cannon discussed the enormous success of his label and its subsidiary, Young Money, on the most recent edition of Cannon’s Class with Nick Cannon.

Young Money, led by Lil Wayne, introduced Drake and Nicki Minaj to the world, in case you were somehow unaware. In the Cannon chat below, Baby said that he paid them an astounding amount of money around about the 55-minute mark.

It’s a little unclear, though, whether he’s talking about their earnings or their budget. In any case, it’s a huge sum of money. Looks reasonable, doesn’t it?

Birdman told Nick Cannon, “Two billion dollars between Drake, Nicki, and Wayne,” according to Complex. “Two billion dollars plus.” Guaranteed: hundreds of millions of dollars.

He said similar things on the Big Facts podcast back in 2021. When these singers signed to Cash Money under his Universal Records contract, the New Orleans great remembers how much he offered them.

Birdman reportedly stated of Young Money, “When Universal gave me a bag, brother, I could honestly say I gave Wayne about $400 to $500 million, Drake got about $500 million, and Nicki got about $300, $400 million out of my pocket,” according to HipHopDX. “No cap. Ask them if you don’t trust [me].

But nothing endures forever. All three of these musicians put out their final albums under the Cash Money banner by the year 2018. Young Money was able to continue as a Republic imprint thanks to Weezy, and it’s clear that they all went on to achieve greater success.

As seen by his brother “Gangsta” Williams’ recent accusation against NBA YoungBoy during YB’s most recent incarceration, Birdman now claims connections to other musicians. It simply looks different, but the grind is still there.

We’ll have to wait and see what else Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Drake have planned. With their fingers crossed till the end, fans would want to see them collaborate once more on a song. Or until, like Birdman is honoring his legacy, they unavoidably commemorate theirs.
