Amazon Prime Video has signed a multiyear theatrical production pact with Lionsgate, giving it an exclusive streaming window on the studio’s films beginning with their 2026 slate, following an initial run on Starz.
Under the new agreement, Prime Video will have an exclusive early window after Starz’s exclusive first-run window, starting with Lionsgate’s 2026 theatrical releases available to U.S. customers. In addition, Prime Video will have rights to a package of pictures from the 2025 schedule, as well as a “commitment” to license library movies and television.
Last week, Lionsgate announced an extension of its multiyear theatrical production partnership with Starz, which will retain exclusive first pay TV and SVOD window rights to the studio’s films. The films will now be available on Starz “on an accelerated basis closer to their initial theatrical release.” That pact comes as the business prepares to split Lionsgate into two entities — Lionsgate Studios and Starz Entertainment — which is still awaiting regulatory and shareholder approval.

Beginning in 2026, Prime Video will be able to select premium titles from Lionsgate’s archive, including the studio’s premium properties such as “John Wick,” “Twilight,” “Divergent,” “Saw,” and television shows like “Nurse Jackie” and “Weeds.”

“We know that Prime members enjoy great movies, and as a one-stop entertainment destination, we are thrilled to bring Lionsgate’s terrific slate of entertaining films to Prime Video shortly after their theatrical release,” said Brad Beale, Prime Video’s VP of worldwide licensing and distribution. “The combination of Lionsgate’s films along with the exciting premium entertainment from Amazon MGM Studios and our studios partners ensure that Prime Members will always have something compelling to stream, directly on Prime Video.”
Jim Packer, Lionsgate’s president of worldwide television distribution, said, “We’re thrilled to provide our Amazon partners with early access to upcoming slates of commercially intriguing films directed by world-class directors and cast. This agreement adds considerable value to our slate while confirming Lionsgate’s strong popularity among an ever-expanding portfolio of buyers.”
